Nice compact unit July 11, 2010 Ronald Earl Jennings (Colorado) I replaced a trek antenna with rabbit ears and a huge UHF directional component on it that looked horrible sitting on the tv. This little unit fits under my DTV converter box and is barely visible. I live about 20 miles from the nearest broadcast towers but I do live on a hill which gives me good access to line of sight. The trek always had to face the opposite direction from the towers due to my apartment layout and the signal was sporadic at best, especially in inclement weather. This little RCA with the amplifier gives me about 15% to 25% stronger signal than the trek did, and you can hardly see it. The only thing I don't like is the coax is to short to do much moving around with it. All in all it was worth what I paid for it and it works very well in my area. It is an indoor antenna so don't expect miracles if you live in a congested area. I wish I could put up an outdoor antenna but can't here at my apartment. If your in a decent signal area, I would recommend this unit without hesitation. If your on the fringe of reception, this is probably not the antenna for you. An indoor antenna can only do so much with all the walls and stuff blocking signals. I don't watch a lot of tv but do like to see the sound and picture in synch. This unit works well for me. I tried hanging it in another room, but the signal is better with it laying flat under my converter box. I use the amplifier and it boosts the signal on all stations.
Nice little antenna, could be stronger June 27, 2010 MedStudent 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a compact little antenna, which given its size works amazingly. I get all the channels my other compact antenna would get, but the benifit of using the RCA ANT1450M is that it lies flat on top of my DVD player. The only way you know it is there is to walk over and see it. I used to be one of those people that said who cares if i have an antenna sitting there next to my TV, but it really does look nicer and more importantly take less space stacked on the DVD player. Signal strength is decent for my use, but it is near a window, and I had to play a bit to get it positioned correctly for optimal signal strength. Overall, given the price, it was a good buy.
Pros:
-small compact size
-ability to lie flat or wall mount
-ability to run amplified or not (may get better signal depending on your area)
-long coax cable included
Cons:
-could have been a little stronger, but this is probably why they have different models (for more money of course)
-need to invest some time in finding the optimal location and orientation (up, tilt with included stand, or flat)
Good price and superior performances June 4, 2010 L. Paquin (San Francisco, CA USA) I bought this antenna to replace a larger one which was causing issues everytime a car or bus was driving by (loss of signal for 1-2 seconds). I placed this antenna lower on the floor (closer to the street level) and do not have that problem. In addition, I am able to use it without the included power supply since the transmission antenna is not too far.
I really like how compact it is, especially being so thin. I was able to try about 5 different locations and test the signal on all broadcast digital channels. The placed that worked best happens to be the place where it is the least visible, so I am happy. I highly recomment this product and hope everyone has as much success as I have with it.
Good Buy, Not Great. June 2, 2010 Jason M. Ramirez (Los Angeles, CA) I live near the beach in the Los Angeles area; I get about half the channels no problem. I put the antenna outside to see what the difference would be... Wow, way more channels and clear signal.
RCA ANT1450 Broadcast Antenna May 24, 2010 D. Dustan (Desert AZ) Inexpensive way to watch TV. This antenna pulls in fringe signals - standard and HD. Well worth the money!
