are you kidding? July 22, 2010 Dan C This is a clock radio right? It goes into a bedroom where people sleep right? So who thought that it was a good idea to put a light on it that is so bright that it will cast a shadow when you walk in front of it? Ridiculous. The only way we can use it is to put a towel over it at night and you can still see the light through the towel. If I hadn't spent so much money on it I would throw it out a window.
DON'T BUY IT.
Excellent for the price! July 6, 2010 George Geder This is one of those products that exceeds it price/performance ratio. It has a solid feel; sturdy without being heavy. It's certainly not flimsy as many others in its price range. The sound quality is very good, not cheezy at all. It may not rival that of a Bose system - key word here is 'may'. I can put this bad boy in my backpack and take it to work. Takes up little space on my desk; and sounds good at low volumes. If you want super hi-fi sound; you'll want to hook your ipod up to your monster stereo system. That's a different agenda. You can't go wrong with this product.
Stopped working after 2 months June 17, 2010 Kara Chambers (Alexandria, VA) I wasn't thrilled with this to begin with, I am a fairly technical person but even I found the button location confusing and never quite got used to it. An alarm clock should be idiot proof, considering you need to deal with it before you've had any coffee.
I also have the Altec Lansing im600 Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Firewire-Charging Portable Audio System for iPod (Black) whose sound is far superior for about the same size unit. Slightly pricier without the clock function, but worth looking into. I only purchased this b/c I wanted one for my bedroom which charged my iPhone.
This morning, it just turned off and never went back on again. No display, no sound, despite me checking it with different outlets.
Great while it lasted -- bought it again! June 12, 2010 Red Bruno (Sonoma Wine Country) Perhaps the best radio for iPhone users. It sounds good (hey, it ain't BOSE), supports iPhone, and pulls in FM stations quite well. It is the only radio I have tried that actually works with iPhone -- it may, occasionally, cause the iPhone to ask about Airplane mode. Setting alarms is easy and it just plain works!
Until it quit... It lost power never to sing again! I'm sure that failure is unusual -- but it still upsets the buyer. It cost me way to much to return it. If COSTCO carried these instead of the junk iPod radios they carry, I would have bought it there. I'll try to find another locally where I can return it if it fails.
RCA: Listen up -- quality matters to us.
UPDATE: ANTonline handled the return perfectly. They are a good Amazon seller! I found the same radio at WalMart for just a few dollars more -- bought it - can return it without paying $14 to USPS to ship it. The new one is working perfectly -- a very nice radio!
Why are we subject to so many bright lights? May 31, 2010 want a dark room at night Sounds okay. Don't be fooled by the dimmer option. On this radio, if you set the display on dim, you still have a room bathed in bright light that will let you do everything but read or SLEEP!
BTW: The dimming function doesn't seem have any effect on the BRIGHT function buttons (of which one if OFF). Can't return mine but I do have a towel drapped over the front to allow me to sleep.
When will they ever stop lighting everything that plugs in? Aaaugh!!!!
