Jensen's JHT140 DVD home theater system delivers big thrills to living rooms that haven't much space to spare. It's an affordable package that's simple to set up and use. The system comes with a 5.1-channel audio/video surround receiver integrated with a single-disc DVD player, 4 satellite speakers, a center-channel speaker, and a passive subwoofer. The JHT140's integrated DVD player offers progressive-scan video outputs for high-definition and HD-ready TVs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The system also offers media compatibility with DVD-R, DVD-RW, VCD, and MP3 audio files burned to recordable CD--great for enjoying music from your PC in your living room.
Pumping out 140 watts maximum (20 watts x 5 plus 40 watts for the subwoofer), the system produces powerful, enveloping sound from Dolby Digital 5.1-channel DVDs. All 5 of the system's speakers are sonically matched to deliver a realistic surround soundfield that puts you right in the middle of the action, and all components are finished in metallic silver, matching the styling of most TVs, including the increasingly popular flat-panel video displays. An AM/FM tuner lets you listen to the radio, too.
The system offers a host of outputs for integration with a higher-powered AV receiver at a later date, including component-, composite-, and S-video outputs and 2 digital-audio outputs (1 optical, 1 coaxial). A pair of stereo analog audio inputs accommodates a cassette deck, a VCR, a DVR, or other home-entertainment device.
