 Nice addition to home theater September 6, 2010

Bluray and DVD playback are great with short load times. Netflix and Amazon VOD streaming looks great-no lags or freezes. Wish Hulu streaming was available though.

Purchased this for some of the features as much as the Blu-Ray. Works awesome, sleek look, love the setup and ease of use. Because of this device I will probably be canceling my cable subscription. It works with Netflix, Youtube, Clicker (minor) and many more. In the fall (today is 09/06/10) Hulu Plus will work with it and I'm guessing when Google TV becomes available it will also work with it. You get notifications for software updates if you're connected online with the device and they're a breeze to complete.
Out of the box was easy to setup and use. I bought a HDMI cable to go with it for about $9, I was watching a Netflix instant download movie within 20 minutes of opening the box. The picture quality is amazing compared to my old DVD/VHS combo and even the DVDs I have look better on it, which I believe is due to an up-converting feature.
I have a Sony TV as well and when the Blu-Ray player is turned on it will automatically turn the TV on and select the correct input device on the TV for usage. The load times can be slow sometimes when turning on, putting in discs or connecting to services like Netflix. This can be mostly avoided by selecting one of the options that enables a quick-on feature.
All-in-all, great purchase, totally worth the price under $200.
As a side note, the PlayStation/Xbox option is tempting but then you get drawn into much more than just the purchase of the unit, as I know a couple people who went that route but are enjoying the gaming aspect as well(just with lighter wallets).

I am not thrilled with this blu-ray disc player at all.
There are no lights or display on the player---I can't even tell if the DVD player is on or off without turning on the TV. It takes too long get to the main-menu screen. You cannot start the movie from the point where you left it from the middle---you have to start from the beginning and again, it takes too long to get to the main menu screen. it is not user-friendly at all even for a tech-savvy like myself. Also, the picture-quality is really not that much better then from my cheap $30 dvd-player.
Bottom-line is you get what you paid for it----and do I regret it. My suggestion is not to get this blu-ray player.

Good group of features for the price. Very capable device. I highly recommend this item especially if you are looking for good bang for the buck. If you have a high end television it already has plenty of whistles and bells making most feature sets redundant anyway.

Setup and software updates was easy using the wired connection (Linksys Powerline Kit). Internet connection to Netflix was a breeze with no problems and the streaming quality is very good. Instead of standard cable coming with the BD player, the HDMI cable that I also purchased from Amazon improves quality of video. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
