Superb product with sleek appearance. Very happy with picture quality. Directly connected it to my flat screen tv. Very happy with the output.

A bit of prior history. At the onset of the official DTV transition, I was still using a 15 year dipole antenna (aka "rabbit ears"), which easily received all the stations that I was interested in receiving, in Phoenix, AZ. Suddenly around this same time of year, 2 new DTV stations that I particularly enjoyed abruptly dropped from a strong signal reception to one too weak to translate with my Zenith DTV converter. I couldn't find anyone that carried the RCA ANT1450B or the "smart", auto-adjusting RCA ANT2000, so I constructed a simple "Fractal" antenna. It greatly improved my reception of all received channels without having to re-align the antenna for certain stations. However, it did not improve the reception of the 2 channels that I was suddenly unable to get.
Jump to April 2010, just as suddenly as I'd lost receiption of the 2 "desired" channels, they reappeared with my strength meter returning from extremely poor to very good. Then, on July 5, 2010, the great reception suddenly disappeared again, as it had around the same period in 2009. This time, 3 weeks ago, I found the RCA 1450B Flat HDTV Antenna available at a nearby Walmart. Here is the result of it's attempted use:
Understand that the Zenith DTV converter box I have only shows a 3-color bar, divided in 3rds, so I can't provide percentages that some converters provide. The right-most range is green and indicates "Good to Excellent" reception strength. Left-most, you can quess..."poor to unusable".
Unpowered, it did provide a slight boost in signal reception strength of channels that I already had strong reception of. Powered, the reception of those stations dropped into the moderate range of reception. It did, however, improve reception of the 2 desired channels I'd suddenly lost. Well, sort of. I've had to move the antenna to different positions and even to different locations within the room, just for those 2 channels I was attempting to retrieve, on a daily basis. In doing so, I lose reception of most of stations that are closer, so that I have to reposition again to get say my local ABC/NBC/PBS. But wait...this is supposd to be a multi-directional antenna to alleviate the need for constant adjustment, right?
Well, as an Electronic Hardware Engineer, I can tell you that it "might" be...if you live out in the open and within 15 miles of the transmission towers. If you're an apartment dweller, surrounded by three-story buildings and live on the bottom floor with many of those other buildings between you and the transmitters, you're probably S.O.L, just like me! Just as with Satellite TV, clouds and even high/low pressure weather patterns can/will/do screw up digital TV reception. In my experienced opinion, the RCA ANT1450B product is not worth the approximately $45 that I paid for it. Connecting the signal amplifier to my 7" x 5", home-made "fractal" antenna, got me the same results without having to constantly reposition the antenna alignment. If I ever find the ever-elusive ANT2000, I'll give that a try and see if IT owns up to it's promises. The ANT1450B certainly doesn't, when I got equal or better results by simply connecting it's signal amplifier to my own home-made antenna.

i have a jensen antenna which i bought in 2005. one of the sticks broke so i bought a RCA ANT 1450, the signals are very bad and do not buy this.

I live about 37 miles from the city. I have a 30 year old set of rabbit ears that I've been using and I (amazingly) get about 85% of the channels in our area using the rabbit ears and an amplifier. I figured that surely now they make better antennas then they did back then so I tried this one. The box had a diagram that rates the antenna on reception capabilities and this antenna is rated one step below maximum range capability. I think it was rated something like "super"...when "exceptional" is best...which makes it about a 4/5. It performed pretty well. I got almost the same reception as I did with the rabbit ears. The only problem with that is rabbit ears are worth about $5 and this antenna is five to ten times that price. I do like this antenna because it's black and flat so it has the potential to blend in with it's surroundings. What I didn't like is the cable wire and connector are of extremely cheap quality and it's built into the antenna so you can't change it out with a better one...unless you wanted to cut wires. So, all in all, a decent antenna, which blends in well, but you can probably do just as well with a cheap pair of rabbit ears.

I could tell no difference between a simple $10 antenna un-amplified and the RCA. I am within 25 miles of the stations.
